One of the most popular in Uttarakhand, the Garhwal University has different names. People call it by names like Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University and HNB Garhwal Universiy. The institution is placed Srinagar town in Pauri Garhwal District, in the state of Uttarakhand. Students come from all across the country to pursue advance studies at this reputed institutions.
The university offers accommodation facility to students that come from
far away places in India. The university covers its area at the bank of
the Alaknanda River in the mid of the mighty Himalayas. The Garhwal
University was set up on 1st December 1973. Initially, it was only known
as the Garhwal University. Later on, the university changed its name to
Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University in 1989. After a long time,
the university converted into a Central University.
There are faculties in Science & Pharmacy, Arts, Commerce including
management, Agriculture, Law and Engineering. It also provides Arts and
Science courses. Moreover specialized courses are available too, which
include military Science, tourism, history, archeology, management,
pharmacy etc. Every year, around 12000 students get enrolled into the
college. The university provides library facility with 200,000 books
along with 35 research journals.
There are 12 faculties, 3 campuses, 105 affiliated colleges and 54 self
finance institutions under the university.
